Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Mount Shasta on Saturday, October 1 at 11 a.m. for Fred Leon Bartlett, aka “Jack” or “The King,” who passed away on September 7, 2016 at his home in Mount Shasta, California.
Fred Leon Bartlett, aka “Jack” or “The King,” passed away on September 7, 2016 at his home in Mount Shasta, California.
Fred was born on June 30, 1928 at Lamesa, Texas to parents Eugene and Fanny Mae (Russell) Bartlett.
He was employed by Long Bell, then International Paper Company, in Weed, California and drove heavy equipment before becoming a “side boss.”
He enjoyed the woods, reading, camping and boating with family and friends at Shasta Lake, and snowmobiling.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Mount Shasta.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Bartlett; daughters, Shirley Arnold (Doug) of Olympia, Washington, and Linda Beckby (Larry) of Mount Shasta, California; brother, Don Bartlett of Eagle Point, Oregon; six grandchildren: Karin Witherell (Brian) of Mount Shasta, California, Bryan Beckby (Corina) of Elk Grove, California, Kevin Arnold (Jackie) of Hillsboro, Oregon, Devon Newall (Chris) of Australia, Tanya Madsen (Josh) of Auburn, Washington, Tracy (Kris) Bartlett Schuld of Washington; 13 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Riley, Brynn, Emilly, Leticia, Evelyn, Aaron, Matthew, Makena, Cameron, Grace, Jaxson, Caiden; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Wanda Brady and Nelda Talley.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Mount Shasta on Saturday, October 1 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a favorite charity of one’s choice.
