David (Dave) John Sbarbaro, born July 4, 1936 in Weed, California to Ida Mae Sinigiani and David Gabriel Sbarbaro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 8, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family in Sacramento, California. Dave and his wife, Mary Ricca Sbarbaro, who he met in high school, spent 60 years together in marriage as soulmates.

He was an exceptional 4-letterman athlete receiving the Neal Wade Award and induction into the Weed High School Hall of Fame. Upon graduation, he joined the army serving two years in the tank battalion in the states and overseas. He started his work career in automotive/service station industry alongside his father eventually owning his own operation. Subsequently, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration moving to Sacramento to work for Union Oil and Firestone before becoming a self-employed businessman and real estate investor.

For the past 20 years he and his wife, Mary, were owners and administrators of several retirement homes in the Sacramento area. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and St. Anthony's Catholic Parish in South Sacramento. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time in his younger years boating.

Dave had great love for his family, friends, pets, and those he cared for in the retirement home. He was loved, respected, and treasured by all who knew him leaving a legacy of always placing and serving the needs of other above himself.

Dave was preceded in death by his father David and mother Ida. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Mary, daughter Dana Sbarbaro (Sacramento), son Dean Sbarbaro (Sacramento), grandson Ryan Sbarbaro (Sacramento), and brother Dennis Sbarbaro (San Diego). The family would like to give special thanks for the time and loving care given to Dave by his brother-in-law Mike Boykin, and brother Dennis.

Dave's services were held on October 21, 2016 in Sacramento. Burial will be at the Mt. Shasta Memorial Park in Siskiyou County. A reception to celebrate his life for those who knew him in the local Weed community will be announced at a later date.
