Larry James Byrd passed away on October 10, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center after dealing with complications of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was 62 years old.

Larry was born in Weed, California and was a longtime resident in the area. He also lived in San Jose a few years where he worked for a technology firm.

Larry graduated from Weed High School; and attended College of the Siskiyous and California State University, Chico.

He received an honorable discharge from the US Army in 1976.

Larry enjoyed helping others and communicated well with everyone. He was a great person, brother, and was an intelligent man.

Larry was a devoted friend and was loved dearly. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his sister, Ella Byrd of Sacramento; brother, Alfred Byrd Bearden of Lake Shastina; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Beatrice Byrd and Edmond Byrd; and siblings: Sheriff Charles Byrd, Charlene Byrd, Dale Byrd, Rose Byrd Applewhite, and Arnold Byrd.

Burial will take place at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California.

The family extends their gratitude to Larry’s caregiver and the nurses at Mercy Medical Center for the care and comfort provided to him.

Arrangements are in the care of Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel.
