Our beloved mother and grandmother was born on September 30, 1946 in Sacramento, CA to Albert and Bertalee Truttman. Raised in Franklin Elk Grove she attended Franklin Elementary School and graduated from Elk Grove High School 1964.

In 1965 she married Lorin Bivens, Jr of Sacramento and lived in Germany while Lorin served in the US Army. While in Europe she visited old world sights, toured castles and took a lot of photos. Upon return to the U.S. she moved to Mt. Shasta, CA where she raised her two children, Jennifer Bivens (Coe) and Jay Bivens.

While raising her family in Mt. Shasta she worked at the local hospital (Eskaton) (CHW) from 1974 until 1989. Terrie also worked at the local radio station, Mt Shasta Ski Park and Lake Siskiyou Campground until 2003 when she moved back to Elk Grove to assist and care for her aging parents. When she was settled in Elk Grove she obtained certification and became a Farmers Insurance agent. She was active in her church, attended bible studies and volunteered at the clothes closet.

Terrie loved the outdoors, camping, and gardening. She spent precious time taking her granddaughters on a variety of memory making trips to such sights as Grand, Bryce and Zion Canyons, Yosemite National Park and the like. She had an extremely talented hand at painting ceramic and other surfaces and her love of cooking for her family brought her a great deal of joy. She also enjoyed canning the wonderful veggies grown from her garden and sewing (Jennifer and Heather often needed her to repair or alter outfits). Too numerous to count are the great and loving contributions Terrie made in the lives of her family and friends!

Terrie fought a brave battle with cancer and in the end leukemia took her away from us entirely too soon. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Gary) Coe of Dunsmuir and Jay Bivens (Koni) of Mt. Shasta and two granddaughters Heather (Kiefer) Williams of Citrus Heights and Jaimie Coe of Deer River, MN.

A memorial service and celebration of Terrie’s life will take place at:

Terrie survived for over a year thanks to the many faithful blood and blood product donors. We ask and encourage friends and family to go out and donate blood in memory and appreciation of our wonderful mother and grandmother (who frankly lived for others herself).
