Billy C. Weldon, born May 4, 1935 in Stanford Texas, became a US Marine in 1952 and was part of the Force Reconnaissance companies during the Korean War.
While stationed at Camp Pendleton, he met Jeanette R. Bonneville, a fellow Marine, who became his wife of over 60 years. The two had three children, Marty Ray, Larry Wayne, and Tricia Darlene.
The family chose Mt. Shasta as their home. Bill loved the ocean and the rivers leading to it, and often shared his joy with his family and friends. He was also an avid sports fan, and a strong minded business man.
He loved his family dearly and felt a deep loss when his two brothers, James and Don Weldon, passed before him.
His devotion to his wife, as a husband, father and provider was a blessing and proved true to the end as Jan held Bill’s hand and watched him take his last breath on Thursday, November 3, 2016 when he lost his fight with lung cancer.
Many have expressed what an “amazing” man Bill was, and the truth of those statements can be seen in the people that he leaves behind: Jan Weldon, a strong and loyal wife and mother; Marty Weldon, who is the voice of reason and compassion; Larry Weldon, who loves all of God’s children and creatures with every ounce of his being; and Tricia Weldon, who is strong minded and helps others to find their strength; the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry on his love of the outdoors, military pride, and the joy of sportsmanship.
Bill’s service will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 12:30 p.m. at Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery, 11800 Gas Point Road in Igo, California.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at Grand Buffet, 2650 Hilltop Drive in Redding California.
