A National Weather Service Winter Weather Advisory for the Mt. Shasta area includes the possibility of freezing rain and sleet from Wednesday evening into Thursday, Dec. 8.
It’s snowing in the town of Mount Shasta as of Wednesday evening, and snow accumulations are predicted from 4 to 6 inches through Thursday at 1 p.m. with up to 8 inches along Highway 89 east of Interstate 5.
“Some of the coldest air of the season will still be in place as a warm front passes of the region (Wednesday) evening into Thursday morning,” according to the advisory.
NWS warns of travel difficulties caused by snow on local roads, including portions of Interstate 5.
