After the cancellation of Tuesday’s scheduled scoping meeting in Yreka, the State Water Resources Control Board reported it will attempt to reschedule the meeting prior to the end of the public comment period.
The Yreka meeting and meetings in Arcata and Sacramento will be utilized to gather public comment regarding a request to transfer the license for four dams on the Klamath River and allow those dams to be destroyed per a revision to the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement.
The SWRCB said it canceled the meeting scheduled for Jan. 10 in Yreka because of inclement weather and an advisory against travel from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service.
The Sacramento scoping meeting, scheduled for Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon, will be webcast at: video.calepa.ca.gov/.
Written comments are due by 5 p.m. on Feb. 1. Details regarding the scoping meetings and Lower Klamath Project are available in the Notice of Preparation, which is available under the “Related Documents” section of the Lower Klamath Project's webpage: www.waterboards.ca.gov/waterrights/water_issues/programs/water_quality_cert/lower_klamath_ferc14803.shtml.
