Mount Shasta, along with Washington DC, San Francisco, Sacramento and many other cities across the United States, will be holding a Women’s March Saturday, Jan. 21.
A peaceful gathering with music and speakers is planned at Parker Plaza in downtown Mount Shasta at 3 p.m.; followed by a march to City Hall.
It is not a political event, according to a release distributed by organizer Elizabeth Keane, “but is a national movement to unify and empower everyone who stands for human rights, civil liberties, and social justice for all. We stand together in solidarity for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families – recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.”
Keane said the group Mountain Minstrels was confirmed as of Tuesday morning to perform during the event.
