As reported by the Police Department:
“On 11/08/2016, the Mt. Shasta Police Department began an investigation into an allegation of a Mount Shasta IP address uploading internet child pornography. The allegation was based on a tip from the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Federal Task Force, which stated an image was uploaded that had been marked by Google as child pornography.
“A search warrant to locate the IP address allowed the department to write additional search warrants for a Mt. Shasta home, as well as computers, electronic devices and social media accounts. The search warrant was conducted at 1109 Oak St., in Mt. Shasta, with the assistance of Sacramento ICAC Task Force. During the investigation, the department was able to locate a victim and corroborating evidence to support that he had been the victim of continuous sexual abuse beginning at the age of 10.”
The MSPD reported that it believes there is a possibility of additional victims, and anyone who has information regarding other victims or additional information is encouraged to contact Officer Judd Hembree at (530) 926-7540.
MSPD Lieutenant Joe Restine said the Department does not issue press releases regarding child abuse in cases where the victim would be readily or easily identifiable in order to protect the victim’s identity.
