Union Pacific crews are on scene where a train derailed near Castella Tuesday, April 25, about 11:30 a.m.

There were no hazardous materials or spills involved and no personal injuries were reported, said Union Pacific Media Director Justin Jacobs during a phone interview.

Jacobs said the last one or two of the 10 empty flatcars or boxcars that derailed were on a bridge that crosses the Upper Sacramento River. There was some damage to the bridge.

Crews have been on scene since yesterday re-railing or removing the cars and assessing the damage to the bridge. There is no estimated time to re-open and trains are being rerouted, Jacobs said.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
