Crystal Geyser Water Company continues to look forward to opening our Mt. Shasta facility.
Crystal Geyser Water Company continues to look forward to opening our Mt. Shasta facility. We remain committed to creating good paying jobs and providing stimulus for the Mt. Shasta and Siskiyou County economy. As we continue to work with the County and responsible agencies through the CEQA process, we are confident that we will complete the EIR and begin operations that will be sustainable with minimal environmental impact.
Crystal Geyser Water Company purchased the former Coca-Cola/Danone Water Bottling facility in 2013. We were invited to discuss the project at a Mt. Shasta City Council meeting on March 24th, 2014. We did so readily and openly, discussing the jobs that were forecasted (up to 60), the traffic we thought would be needed for the plant to start-up (up to 50 round-trip trucks), and the plant’s operating hours (24 hours per day). All information presented at that meeting was based on our best estimates for opening the plant with a single production line, as we have consistently said is our plan for initial operations.
This data is a matter of public record, and it is unfortunate that more than three years later some are suggesting we said anything different at the time.
Naturally, over the more than three-year period since we presented these forecasts some things have changed. Some of this was due to improved technologies becoming available, such as the state-of-the-art air rinsing process for our bottles which not only ensures that most of the water we extract goes directly into our product, but also reduced our wastewater discharge. Other changes were made as a result of engineering realities and permitting requirements. That is common in the renovation of any facility; certainly a plant as sophisticated at this one.
We express our appreciation to all of the community leaders and supporters that have spoken out and encouraged us over the past three years.
