The annual Tribute to the Trees Concert featuring the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra in the Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens has been scheduled for Saturday, June 24. This year’s theme is “Flower Power.”
Gates open at 3:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 5 p.m.; followed by the concert at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s soloist is Bay Area “superstar” cellist and PACO alum Eric Gaenslen. He will be making his debut with “Suites for Cello and String Orchestra” by California composer Lou Harrison, and Saint-Saens exciting Allegro Appassionato, according to a Tribute to the Trees press release.
The evening’s program will also feature Vivaldi’s famous Concerto in B minor and String Symphony No. 2 by Felix Mendelssohn.
The buffet dinner will include a choice of outdoor grilled tri-tip; grilled rosemary tomato basil chicken breast; or vegetable lasagna – each served with red potato salad and a green salad. Dessert of individual cheese cake is included.
Guests may not bring alcoholic beverages, however beer, wine and soda will be available for purchase.
Dinner and concert tickets are $45 each; concert only tickets are $20. Proceeds go to the horticultural education and enhancement of the Botanical Gardens.
