The 6th annual Forgery Show, a collection of reproductions in oil of world-renown masterworks, will open with a reception Saturday, March 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Snow Creek Studios in downtown Mount Shasta.

The paintings by 23 ArtRoster artists will represent works by Botticelli, Bouguereau, Collier, Dali, da Vinci, del Sarto, Duchamp, Dürer, Gerome, Homer, Le Brun, Leighton, Rousseau, Sorolla, Van Gogh, Waterhouse and several others.

Siskiyou County residents in the show are: Carl Adams, Tristan Behm, Kit Bertolucci, Dustin Bonivert, Leonard Brown, Karen Copsey, Janet Crittenden, Marga Filip, Lynda Hardy, Judy Hester, Ann Jensen, Lucinda Macy, Karol McGuire, Anne McTavish, Jenny Purtle, Nancy Schneider, Cindy Schultheis-Corrales, Suzanne Van Summern, Lou Wandro and Michael Wecksler.

The artists meet weekly at Snow Creek Studios to hone their skills and creative expression by drawing and painting their own individual pieces, under the tutelage of painter Aleksander Balos. Balos instructs them in techniques from the Old Masters’ atelier system of the European classical and impressionistic painting schools, as well as more contemporary methods.

The Annual Forgery Show began in 2013 when 10 separate reproductions in oil of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa were displayed at The Gallery in Mount Shasta. Since then the number of participating artists has increased, as well as the variety of masterworks represented.

The show will run through April 28. Visit the Art Roster website and blog at:
