Lefty, as he was known to most, passed away at his home in Sierra Vista, Arizona on September 21, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on September 17, 1931 and in his early years, was a resident of Tennant and Weed. He owned and operated a produce harvesting business. His passion was the next lettuce deal and the highway was his road to happiness. He developed a system of assembling produce boxes in the field for a more efficient method of harvesting as well as the idea of wrapping lettuce in the field. He worked until he was 82, always trying to find a better way to harvest.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert, Wallace and Victor, two sons, Lance and Larry. He is survived by his companion of 33 years, Sandra Erhardt, who remained by his side and his only daughter, Leilani Sheppard-Miller. He has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and had a multitude of friends throughout his life. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
