Amy Lanier of Mount Shasta has been named General Manager of GateHouse Media’s Northern California Group, effective March 1, 2018.

Lanier has been a top performing multimedia sales executive for the past 19 years while working out of the Mount Shasta Area Newspapers office.

In her new role, she will oversee GateHouse operations in Mount Shasta, Yreka and Gridley, including the Siskiyou Daily News, Mount Shasta Herald, Weed Press, Dunsmuir News, Supersaver Advertiser, Gridley Herald, and online digital services through ThriveHive.

In an announcement to staff about Lanier’s promotion, GateHouse Regional Vice President Grady Singletary wrote, “I am most pleased that the transition in leadership will be provided by someone from within the organization that is dedicated to the team, the culture and the community. Importantly, the appointment of Amy provides a level of continuity as she is a proven leader who has brought a collaborative style and passion.”

Lanier has been doing many of the general manager’s duties for several months following the departure of publisher Sean McDonald. She was recently recognized with GateHouse Media’s “Best Performing Small Property” award.

She has worked in a variety of roles at the newspaper for 24 years and has lived in Siskiyou County since 1993. She attended both Yreka and Mount Shasta High Schools.

She currently serves on the board of directors for both the Mt. Shasta Chamber of Commerce and the College of the Siskiyous Foundation.

“Amy has provided steady guidance while supporting me in the three operations over these past few months,” Singletary wrote. “During this period of time she has demonstrated every ability to assume more responsibility and build upon her skills as a leader. She effectively focused on managing several open sales territories as well as maintaining a lead role within the various properties. Amy has deservedly earned the opportunity to provide the vision for the products and services we provide to the region and our customers.”
