CITY OF DUNSMUIR RESOLUTION NO. 2018-10,
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUNSMUIR REQUESTING THE ELECTION CLERK OF THE COUNTY OF SISKIYOU TO PLACE ON THE NOVEMBER 6, 2018 BALLOT A BALLOT MEASURE TO ADOPT A GENERAL SALES AND TRANSACTION TAX TO TAX CANNABIS RETAIL ACTIVITIES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by Colleen Setzer, County Clerk, County of Siskiyou, that an election will be held in the City of Dunsmuir in Siskiyou County on November 6, 2018. The following question will be submitted to the qualified voters of the City of Dunsmuir:
To provide funding for general City services, shall an ordinance be adopted to impose a cannabis industry tax at a rate not to exceed up to $3.50 per dry-weight ounce of cannabis flower, cannabis leaves, fresh cannabis plant, and up to 10% of gross receipts per quarter for other commercial Cannabis businesses and which may raise an amount which is difficult to estimate but may be approximately $20,000 to $40,000 per year.
NOTICE is further given that based upon the time reasonably necessary to prepare and print the arguments and sample ballot booklets for said election, the County Clerk’s Office has fixed 4:00 p.m., August 1, 2018, as a reasonable date prior to the election after which no arguments for or against measure may be submitted for printing and distribution to voters. Arguments for and against this measure are limited to 300 words or less. All arguments must be submitted to the Siskiyou County Clerk’s Office, 510 N. Main Street, Yreka, CA 96097, phone (530) 842-8084. Arguments may be withdrawn or changed up to and including the time and date set forth as the deadline for filing
NOTICE is further given that specific requirements for submitting arguments are provided in the Siskiyou County Guide for Submitting Arguments and Rebuttal for Local Measures booklet, which is available on the County Elections website at www.sisqvotes.org or from the Siskiyou County Clerk’s Office at the above-listed address.
NOTICE is further given that if arguments are submitted both for and against the proposed measure, the authors may prepare and submit rebuttal arguments not to exceed 250 words. The County Clerk’s Office has fixed 4 p.m., August 15, 2018 as the deadline for submission of rebuttals if such is required.
NOTICE is further given that the public examination period for analysis and arguments is August 16, 2018 through August 27, 2018.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the polls at said election will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
