Benjamin Sellers, age 68, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, the Mount Shasta California Highway Patrol reported.
A 68 year old Mount Shasta man died in a single vehicle rollover accident Thursday night, March 14 on South Old Stage Road, about a quarter mile south of WA Barr Road.
Benjamin Sellers was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, the Mount Shasta California Highway Patrol reported. The sole occupant in the vehicle, Sellers was ejected from his 2005 Honda CRV and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol impairment is suspected, the CHP said in a press release.
Sellers was driving south on S. Old Stage Road at approximately 9:45 p.m. when for unknown reasons, he turned his vehicle to the right, allowed it to drift off the roadway and collide with a metal and wood fence. The vehicle then overturned several times in a field, CHP reported.
“No prosecution is expected, as the deceased driver was determined to be the primary cause of the collision,” CHP said in their press release.
CHP was assisted in the investigation by the Mount Shasta Fire Department, Mount Shasta Police Department and the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department.
