Celebrating Life in Recovery, a 14-week video program hosted by Cheri Peters, begins Saturday, May 11, and will run from 9 to 10 a.m., at the Mount Shasta Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The series aims to help people experience freedom – not just from drugs and alcohol – but whatever people are hurting from. Recovery issues covered include media and sexual addictions, eating disorders, rage, depression, perfectionism, and workaholism. In this series, survivors and experts alike share stories of victory and recovery from life's hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
Peters, a recovering drug addict, was abused, unloved and unwanted by her family. She lived a homeless, miserable life on the streets until she met Jesus. She now shares her story with youth and young adults. She is also the creator of Celebrating Life in Recovery, which includes a participant study guide, small group support, prayer, and the use of natural remedies such as sunlight, fresh air, exercise, and a plant based diet. Peters is the author of two books, “Miracle From the Streets” and “God is Crazy About You.” She also does TV appearances and hosts her own radio program.
The program is provided as a free community health service. The Mount Shasta SDA Church is located on Hwy 89, 1/4 mile east of I-5. For info., call (530) 925-4329.
