Organizers are gearing up for Mount Shasta’s 40th annual Fourth of July Fun Run & Walk, and pre-registration for the “Largest Small Town Walk in America” is open now online.

Organizers are gearing up for Mount Shasta’s 40th annual Fourth of July Fun Run & Walk, and pre-registration for the “Largest Small Town Walk in America” is open now online.

This year’s t-shirt design has been chosen and the event’s grand raffle prize – a 2019 Subaru Impreza – has been donated by Redding Subaru.

New this year, organizers will no longer be providing single-use plastic water bottles for event registrants, said event coordinator Justi Hansen.

“We will provide water stations along the run and walk routes for participants to fill their own water bottles and small compostable paper cups for those who do not have their own water bottles,” she said. “Please help us reduce waste by bringing your own water bottle to the event.”

Longtime event volunteer Dusty Miller called the event “a huge, fun undertaking that brings the community together each year to celebrate our nation and our community.” He added that it could not be accomplished without “the widespread support and commitment from our amazing volunteers, regional business sponsors, and collaborative community leadership ... We encourage everyone to make an effort to support all the businesses that support this event and our community with their financial and prize donations.”

All registered race participants receive a t-shirt with their race packet. Graphic designer Faizal Nazaruddin created this year’s t-shirt design.

In addition to the Subaru Impreza grand prize, there are many other prizes available for race entrants to win.
