Those who wish to have their vet records sent to another location should contact the clinic at (530) 926-5233 before Thursday, said Mangis. After Thursday, call (509) 888-7297 to receive records.

After nearly 40 years in business, Black Butte Veterinary Clinic is closing its doors on July 11.

Dr. Ron Stremel founded the business on Mount Shasta’s Truck Village Drive in 1980, said Martha Mangis, a veterinary technician who has been there since 1982. Dr. Shawna Bais took over the business 13 years ago, but has since relocated to Washington and has been running it from afar.

“It is just too hard,” said Mangis, who plans to retire when the clinic closes.

Mangis said she will miss seeing the people and their pets.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the closing of Black Butte Veterinary Clinic,” Bais said in a written announcement, which also thanked patrons for their “support and loyalty over the years.”

Those who wish to have their vet records sent to another location should contact the clinic at (530) 926-5233 before Thursday, said Mangis. After Thursday, call (509) 888-7297 to receive records.
