The Cascade Conservatory Performing Arts Center’s theatre venue, Cascade Playhouse, is holding a second week of auditions for their upcoming performance of “The Sound of Music.” Interested community members are invited to audition for both singing and non-singing parts., and all parts are still available.
Children ages 7-17 are encouraged to try out for one of the von Trapp children. Experience is not necessary. Interested children should arrive at the conservatory on Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. Vocal singing/instruction will be held until 1 p.m.

Teens interested in the role of Liesl and Rolf should learn the song “Sixteen Going on Seventeen.” Use of the music on a cell phone with Bluetooth is acceptable.
A one-hour lunch break will be held from 1-2 p.m.
All participants should bring a lunch, something to drink and a snack in case they are required to stay for the afternoon session where they will do readings from the script and learn a short dance movement piece.
Adults should also arrive at 10 a.m. and should be prepared to sing any song, either acapella or using music from a cell phone with Bluetooth. No accompanist will be available that day.
A lunch break will be held from 1-2 p.m. followed by script readings then a dance movement piece.
All roles in the show are available: six to eight Nuns, Mother Abbess, Maria, Baron von Trapp, Baroness Elsa, Uncle Max, Herr Zeller, Baron Elberfeld, Admiral von Schreiber, the maid and butler, plus all of the von Trapp children.
Six teen or adult dancers will be used in the ballroom scene for the Austrian Grand Waltz, which will be taught in authentic form. Dancers are also encouraged to audition.
The Cascade Conservatory is located in the Weed Mercantile, 590 Main Street in Weed.
