Longtime Weed resident James (Jim) R. Mullen passed away on May 6, 2019.

Born in Sacramento, California in 1939, he graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in mechanical engineering and after a short stint at Aerojet spent the remainder of his working life at the US Geological Survey.

Jim lived in Tahoe City for many years and moved to Weed when he retired in the mid-1990s. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping throughout the region. He participated for many years in the choir at the College of the Siskiyous and in later years volunteered at the Mt. Shasta Sisson Museum and was a member of the SIRs club (Sons in Retirement).

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Richard; children, Tim Mullen, Ann Mullen and Mike Mullen; grandson Marnix Mullen; and sister Margaret DiNapoli.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10 at the Lower Lodge at Mt. Shasta City Park, 1315 Nixon Road, Mount Shasta.
