David Peterson of DP Construction and his crew, Tommy Gordon and Cody Rooney pose next to Weed Pride’s recently installed sign at Heritage Plaza on Main Street. The volunteer group still has a wish list for adding improvements but one important addition has been completed. They are pleased with the sign, which dedicates the plaza to the richly diverse groups making up Weed’s heritage. In keeping with the historical theme, the lumber used for the frame came from the old water tower that used to be above the city. Peterson and his crew volunteered to frame and install the sign and Solano’s Do it Best donated the materials. Donna Winger designed it, Signs of Life printed it, Mark Stensaas of the Weed Store took the photograph and Jim Taylor helped in numerous ways. There will be a community dedication for Heritage Plaza on Saturday, Aug. 24 at noon, in conjunction with the Weed Chamber of Commerce’s car show and the Saturday concert series at the plaza.
