The ordinance regulating McCloud’s new Hazardous Vegetation and Combustible Material Abatement was again the topic of discussion at the McCloud Community Services District meeting Sept. 9.

The board is investigating grant funding for hiring enforcement and abatement personnel for the ordinance. This will go back to the board for further research.

The MCSD 2019-2020 Fiscal Year Final Budget was unanimously approved.

Also discussed was the State Water Board’s SB998, Regulated and Urban Water systems, which includes a low-income rate assistance program that MCSD will need to be in compliance with by April 2020. This will change the community’s water ordinance, the board noted.

It was announced at the meeting that the McCloud ambulance is out of service and will remain out of commission until repairs are made.

The board approved adding the requirement for newly elected board members to take ethics and unlawful harassment, including sexual harassment training, within six months of taking office, as well as every two years after, as long as they are on the board.

An ad hoc committee regarding the Old McCloud Courthouse Project is also being added to the MCSD Policy and Procedure Manual. This committee will oversee the rehabilitation of the historic courthouse building and work to keep it as close as possible to the building’s original condition. Funding for the restoration project is comprised solely from donations.
