The breakfast is a fundraiser for the Rotary’s Wildcat Weekender Backpack Food Program. All you can eat pancakes are $5 dollars. Coffee is free to adults, and milk is free for children. Sides of eggs and sausages can be purchased for $1 each.

Dunsmuir Rotary will be hosting their first ever all you can eat Steam Punk Pancake Breakfast this Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Dunsmuir Community Building from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

The breakfast is a fundraiser for the Rotary’s Wildcat Weekender Backpack Food Program. All you can eat pancakes are $5 dollars. Coffee is free to adults, and milk is free for children. Sides of eggs and sausages can be purchased for $1 each.

This year, the Wildcat Weekender Backpack Food Program will provide kid-friendly weekend meals for 59 Dunsmuir children. Last year, the program provided over 6,000 weekend meals to children attending Dunsmuir Elementary School. This year, participation in the program has doubled.

“Why is your support for the Wildcat Weekender program crucial?” asked Rotarian Will Newman. “Imagine being 10 years old and waking up one weekend. There’s nothing in the house for breakfast for you or your siblings. It isn’t that your parents haven't gone shopping. The problem is, they don't have money to buy food.”

Newman said the scenario is repeated throughout this country and, indeed, in Dunsmuir.

Over the past two years, people from all over northern California and southern Oregon have supported the Rotary Club’s efforts to ease childhood hunger.

The Dunsmuir Community Building is located across the parking lot from the Dunsmuir Ball field.

This fundraiser is just one of many community projects supported by the Rotary Club of Dunsmuir. For more information about the pancake breakfast or Dunsmuir Rotary, call Newman at (530) 235-5735.
