“There were several very good applicants,” said MCSD General Manager Amos McAbier. “Richie’s combined experience, past knowledge, and team leadership, plus 20 years in public works makes him perfect for the position.”

McCloud Services District staff is now complete, after the Public Works Superintendent position was filled and a new full time utility worker was hired.

Richie Fesler was hired as the Public Works Superintendent after working with the district as a utility worker the past year.

“There were several very good applicants,” said MCSD General Manager Amos McAbier. “Richie’s combined experience, past knowledge, and team leadership, plus 20 years in public works makes him perfect for the position.”

Lifelong McCloud resident Dean Adams fills out the MCSD staff as a utility worker.

Adams still has his backhoe excavating business but said he wanted something more secure so he doesn’t have work elsewhere in the winter months. He is very familiar with McCloud’s infrastructure, as helped put in the new intake springs waterline in 2001 and the lateral sewer hookups project in 2002, along with several other town projects through the years.

“I am looking forward to putting Dean’s expertise to use with his knowledge of equipment,” said McAbier.

“We’re thrilled to have Dean with his knowledge of our infrastructure and experience on our team,” said Fesler.

Adams displayed his ingenuity via a homemade rat trap, which uses a recycled Power Ade bottle, a five gallon bucket, a little water, a stick, and peanut butter. The rat jumps on the bottle that has the peanut butter on it, which spins at the top of the bucket dropping the rat into the water where it cannot get out. This will be on display and in use at the District office for people to copy and use at home.

The MCSD currently employs a general manager, a public works superintendent, a part time parks maintenance worker, a financial officer, a secretary, two utility workers and a refuse worker.
