Deutsch joined the Foundation Board of Directors in 2016. An active member of the Dunsmuir community, Deutsch has served as member of the Dunsmuir City Council since June 2015 and served as Mayor of the City of Dunsmuir in 2018 and is the former Executive Director of Siskiyou Media Council.
The College of the Siskiyous Auxiliary Foundation Board of Directors on Jan. 21 elected Bruce Deutsch to serve as President and David Gault to serve as Vice President for the year.
Deutsch joined the Foundation Board of Directors in 2016. An active member of the Dunsmuir community, Deutsch has served as member of the Dunsmuir City Council since June 2015 and served as Mayor of the City of Dunsmuir in 2018 and is the former Executive Director of Siskiyou Media Council. He previously served two terms as the Foundation Vice President (2018 and 2019), and is Chair of the Foundation Alumni Enrichment Committee. Before moving to Dunsmuir, Deutsch served as a U.S. Navy Commander (retired) and high school social studies teacher.
Gault joined the Foundation Board of Directors in October 2016. He previously worked as the Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer at College of the Siskiyous. Before coming to COS, Gault worked with Oracle Database Administration at Expershare in Mt Shasta and Yahoo as a Search Service Engineer. He also spent time as a Linux Administrator at the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. This is Mr. Gault’s first term as the Vice President of the COS Foundation Board of Directors. He also serves as the Chair of the Donor Development Committee and as member of the Investment Due Diligence Committee.
Since 1992, the Foundation has actively raised funds with the intent of helping to keep College of the Siskiyous at the forefront of educational quality by developing new programs, improving facilities, providing equipment, and offering student scholarships.
The Foundation receives and dispenses funds to assist and support the educational programs and general welfare of the College of the Siskiyous.
Quality education depends on fiscal stability, well-maintained facilities and equipment, up-to-date technology, and a faculty and staff that are current with new and innovative advances in their fields. Since its inception, the Foundation has worked to assist the Board of Trustees and College staff to maintain its standard of excellence. The funds raised by the Foundation Board benefit five areas of priority: encouraging excellence in teaching and learning; offering student scholarships, including the Siskiyou Promise grant; acquiring and supporting new technologies; completing campus renovations and new building projects; and, enhancing the arts
Support for the Foundation can be in the form of cash, commitments, life insurance, wills, or transfer of investments and real property. Other giving arrangements include bequests (wills), trust funds, and endowments, which are invested for long-term growth and ongoing income to help College of the Siskiyous students reach their educational goals. All gifts to the COS Foundation are tax deductible, and subject to current tax accounting limitations. Prospective donors are encouraged to consult a qualified tax consultant for more detailed information. Contributions of any size are enthusiastically welcomed and greatly appreciated – and supporting the COS Foundation is a great way to invest in the future of the school’s students.
