Longtime Weed resident Natividad C. Contreras passed away on February 19, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old.

Natividad was born on April 13, 1930 In Mexico to Natividad and Carmen Contreras. He worked at lumber mills for many years, first at International Paper Company, Long Bell Division in Weed, then at Sierra Pacific in Burney. He attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Weed. He enjoyed gardening and working with wood, as he remodeled the family home.

Natividad is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ofelia Contreras of Weed; four children, Ana Maria Contreras, Magdalena Sandoval, Alma Contreras and Sergio Contreras; a sister, Luz Macedo; six grandchildren, Afrack Vargas, Xotchilt Vasquez, Genia Vargas, Efren Sandoval, Sonia Leon and Chenoa R. Vargas, and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Weed on Saturday, March 7, 2020. The Rosary will be recited starting at 10:00 AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Davis Cemetery in Davis, California. Girdner Funeral Chapel is handling the services.
