Toni Rassmussen passed away peacefully at her home, on March 5th 2020, surrounded by her 4 children. She was 94.
Toni was born on June 4, 1925 in Zacatecas Mexico to Epitacio and Francisca Castaneda, she was only 2 when she came to Siskiyou County with her mom and dad. She was 1 of 6 siblings.
Toni married her husband Orval Rasmussen on June 27, 1953. They were married 35 years before his passing in February 1988.
Toni was a hard worker, she started at a very young age, saving enough money to buy her first home for her parents at the age of 18. She worked at the Longbell Factory during the wars, cooked at the “Y” Cafe, and was a consultant for Beeline and Sara Coventry . Throughout her life her most cherished calling was being a caregiver to many family members.
Toni’s home was full of love and the smell of her famous pancakes at all times. Being known as “Nana” to many, she enjoyed cooking anytime of the day, being outdoors working in her flower beds or doing yard work, crocheting, sewing, cross stitching, and reading. During the holidays she loved having family gatherings in her home that she and her husband expanded in the late 60’s.
Having five generations, Toni is survived by her 4 children, Steve Rasmussen, Orville Rasmussen, Susan Phillips and Rose Sanchez. Followed by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren.
Friends and Family will be gathering at the home of Toni Rasmussen on Thursday March 12, 2020 at 2pm.
