Longtime Weed, California resident Richard John Phillips passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2020 in Yreka. He was 68 years old.

Richard was born on December 1, 1951 in Ceres, California to James and Lois Phillips. He was raised and attended school in Modesto. Richard served in the U.S. Navy, then returned to Modesto where he worked as a welder. In 1972, Richard married Christine Fernandes. The couple moved to Siskiyou County in 1994, where they owned and operated the Trailer Lane RV Park in Weed. Richard also owned and operated R.P. Welding, along with teaching welding at COS for four years. Richard and Christine are very active in the Holy Family Catholic Church. Richard was a member of the BPOE Elks club as well as the Corvette Club. He enjoyed RV camping, waterskiing, sailing and riding his dirt bikes.

Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Christine Phillips; a daughter, Stephanie White; his father, James Phillips (Patty); a brother, David Phillips (Betty); a sister, Debbie Bernhard (Allan); two grandchildren, Dylan White (Heather) and Haley White, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Phillips.
