A Mount Shasta man was arrested in the early morning hours Sunday after allegedly discharging a firearm multiple times in the 100 block of Ski Village Drive.

Daniel Douglas Gray, 40, was charged with negligent discharge of a firearm with gross negligence and as of Tuesday afternoon, remained lodged Siskiyou County Jail in Yreka with bail set at $20,000.

The Mount Shasta Police Department and officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to the Ski Village Drive area at approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 12 after receiving multiple 911 reports of shots being heard in the area.

“During the initial area check, officers witnessed additional gunfire and called for additional units to respond with lights and siren,” MSPD said in a press release. “As a precaution, medical personnel were also staged in the area although no injuries were sustained in this incident.”

After investigation and the recovery of a firearm, Gray was taken into custody, said MSPD in the release. The department thanked the allied agencies that responded, including CHP, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, Weed Police Department, and CAL FIRE for “their assistance in the safe resolution of this event.”
