Roy “Butch” Klopp, age 77, passed away in Eureka, California on June 25, 2017. He was born in 1939 and, when asked his age, he always said he was “39.”

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lynn Bardling Klopp; his mother, Verna Klopp; his father, Irwin Klopp; an infant sister, Elaine; and his sister, Lorraine Correa of McCloud, California.

He is survived by his brother Franklin Klopp of Arcata, his stepchildren Bradly Bardling of Wildomar and grandchildren Justin, Jake, Brody, Shae and Dayton, Gary Bardling of Mount Shasta and granddaughter Daphney, and Stacy Gove of Lincoln and grandchildren Rachel and Alex.

He was a loving, caring step-dad, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Butch graduated from McCloud High School in 1958. From there he made a career in the lumber and logging industry all his life in northern California.

He was an athlete, enjoying bowling and golf for many years. He hunted and fished with family and friends until just the year before he passed away. He loved sports on television and could call a game before the announcers did for football and basketball.

He was an avid story teller. His best stories were about his hair-raising hunting and fishing adventures, and adventures in the timber falling and hauling industry.

If you wish, in memory of, please make a contribution to Hospice of Siskiyou County.

An interment at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park will be held at a later date.
