Gilbert married Elaine Kleker in 1955 and had two children Jennifer Elaine, and Nicholas Gilbert. After his marriage ended he met Marilyn Lamb through a mutual friend. That meeting eventually turned into a marriage on July 9th 1977. In 1979 they moved to Mr. Shasta, CA and bought a home. For 8 years they both enjoyed traveling abroad and throughout the states.
Gilbert could not get used to retirement and took a job driving a van transporting special needs children to school. He enjoyed his job so much that he took some additional classes in Chico, CA and received a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and became a teacher of special needs children which he did from 1985 -1995.
Gilbert welcomed granddaughter Maisie Grossart in 1996 and grandson Kyle Grossart in 1998. He was very active in many organizations. SIRS, Square Dance Club, Mt. Shasta Hospital volunteer, Motorcycle club, Nightmares (variety show) and enjoyed skiing in the winters and fishing and hiking in the summers. Gilbert made many friends and will be missed by all.
