“Neal” Gelwick passed away on August 29, 2018 after being hospitalized in the Rogue Valley hospital, Medford OR with a sudden onset of Leukemia . Neal was born in Artesia, NM and graduated from Artesia high school in 1955. He moved to Mt. Shasta, CA in 1965 where he made his home. Neal married Linda Marie (Van Keuren) (Brush) Gelwick from McCloud, CA on April 12, 1981.

Neal leaves behind his loving wife Linda, two stepsons, Lester and Richard Brush, two sisters: Mary Edith (Gelwick) Frazier, Perris, CA and Rachel Mae (Bogart) Spinks, Redding CA and one step-granddaughter Heidi Brush.

Neal was preceded in death by his mother Vera Evalena (Drennan) Gelwick in 1941. His father Loren DeWitt Gelwick 1955. His step-mother Dorothy (Shelton)( Bogart) Gelwick in 1999, brother, Loren R "Bun" Gelwick 2015, sister, Joye Evalena (Gelwick) Dilts 2016, two stepbrother's William Bogart, Joe Bogart and stepsister Wanda (Bogart) Carcerano. Due to a blended family there are too many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews to mention.

Neal owned and operated a logging truck and a back hoe service in and around Mt. Shasta. He was an avid hunter and marksman and won many trophies in the competitions. He was also a charter member of the Mount Shasta Snowmobile Club during the 1970's. Along with several other retired buddies, he was a part of The "Betterment of Mt. Shasta Committee" until he moved to Oregon in 2000 who still meet daily at the Burger King in Mt. Shasta, CA. During the morning meetings they still discuss local and world wide events, politics, the weather, their adventures in life and much, much more.

In 2000 Neal and his wife Linda retired and moved to Sunny Valley, OR where they focused on their gardening and canning but mostly their "fur baby" Sara. During the winter they looked forward to their yearly RV excursion to Quartzsite, AZ. As “snowbirds” they made many dear friends. This yearly trip also included a mini family reunion with Neal's siblings at Neal's "Big Sissie" Meg (Gelwick) Frazier's home in Perris, CA. Also in attendance was another sister Joye and her husband Gayle Dilts from Cincinnati, OH and his brother Loren R "Bun" Gelwick from Mt. Shasta, CA. 

Neal had a magnetic sense of humor and was a wonderful husband, brother, step-father and friend. He will be missed by everyone that ever knew him.
