On November 1, 2018, our beautiful wife, mother, and friend, Marie Hansine (Grouleff) Hargis, passed from this world to her future home in Heaven. Marie was born on March 16, 1926, in El Centro, California. Marie was a courageous and independent woman; yet, classy, sophisticated and adventuresome. Always very artistic, Marie could decorate on a dime and was an accomplished artist in watercolors, oils, pottery, and landscape.
Marie had a full and interesting life. Although she had lived in Hawaii, Florida and Guadalajara, Mexico, she spent most of her life in Southern California. Marie and Richard moved to Siskiyou County in 2003, and she spent her last years in Mt. Shasta and Lake Shastina.
Marie was preceded in death by her son, David A. Crabtree; her siblings, Louise Rader, Nancy Euchler and Bob Grouleff.
She is survived by her husband of 40+ years, Richard A. Hargis; her son, Michael A. Crabtree (and Patricia); two daughters, Susan M. Heilmann (and Tom), Krista I. Mc Kowen (and Scott). She has several grandchildren: Michele Crabtree Moore, Sharon Crabtree Hobbs, Lisa Heilmann Sullivan, John Heilmann, Paige Mc Kowen, Arielle Mc Kowen and Scott Mc Kowen, Jr. and step-grandchildren Melissa Price, Wendy Humes, and Tyson Booher. She has a dozen great grandchildren as well. She is also survived by her older brother, Al Grouleff, and her sisters Evelyn Anderson and Gloria Bowen.
Plans for a memorial service will be announced in the near future. Girdner Funeral Chapel is assisting the family, and online condolences may be made at www.girdnerfuneralchapel.com.
