Vivian Mae Lensing, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 7th, 2019 in her home in Mount Shasta, California. She was born on April 24th, 1923 in Yreka, California to Margaret Mae Fehely-Prather and Morton Adair Prather.

Vivian and Neil “Spike” Lensing were married in 1939.

Knowing Vivian meant you felt her kind heart, saw her beauty, listened to her witty humor, and appreciated her compassion to those in need. She had the natural ability to make you feel special. Vivian loved being a leader and sharing knowledge. Whether it be the Scouting programs, 4H, Teacher’s Aid, Grandparents Anonymous, Hospice volunteering, grief counseling, or cake decorating, the positive impact Vivian made in her community’s lives is immeasurable.

For her own passions, she used painting to share memories from her childhood, and show the area where she lived. Her avid love of history was apparent as she was the family historian.

She is preceded by her husband, Neil “Spike” Lensing, grandson Richard Neil Lensing, and son Jerry Lensing.

She is survived by her brother Edward Prather of Seiad Valley, sister Hazel Sumpter of Orland, sons Gene Lensing, Gordon Lensing, daughters, Kathy Reinero, Janet Sutter. She had 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren who she loved very much.

The family would like to thank all of the Mercy Hospice Mount Shasta and Siskiyou Home Help staff who aided Vivian. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Vivian’s name. A memorial service will be held in the springtime.
