Ruth Elna Baldiez

Ruth Elna Baldiez passed on peacefully in her home on July 27 surrounded by loving family members. Ruth was born in San Pedro, California, on October 3, 1930, to Finnish immigrant parents and spoke Finnish as her first language. Ruth had a lifelong passion for gardening, live jazz, good books, and was supported in life's ups and downs through her strong and abiding faith. She was a civic-minded person who nearly always said yes to serving as a volunteer and board member of numerous organizations, including her church, city beautification committees, and the PTA. After moving to Mount Shasta in 2000, she volunteered for nearly twenty years with the Mount Shasta Humane Society and the Paws and Shop Thrift Store, the Mount Shasta Garden Club, and as a Volunteer Grandmother at Sisson Elementary School. A gentle, loving, and devoted family member and friend, Ruth is survived by six of her eight children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her extended family in the US and Finland. One of Ruth's favorite hymns is, "Morning Has Broken", and she lived her life according to this verse, "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer", Romans 12:12. Ruth's family gathered around her in her final days to spend wonderful quality time with her, and we are so grateful for all of the well-wishes and prayers we have received during Ruth's period in home hospice care. The family will have a private celebration of life for Ruth.
