Gordon Mitchell Woodhead, fondly referred to by many just as 'Woodhead" or "Woody," passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at age 65. Gordon was born in Corona, California on December 3, 1955 and grew up in southern California. He is survived by his mother, Mar-Mary Knox, his daughter, Melica Woodhead, and his two dogs, Iris and Stanley. He moved to Susanville after high school where he became a hotshot firefighter and later a smoke jumper. He loved to jump out of planes working to put out fires. In 2003, he moved to Mt. Shasta where he had his own construction company. Gordon loved his work and was always very proud to build homes and help people create their dream home.
Gordon loved to be outside in the wilderness, hiking, fishing, running, skiing, and camping. The outdoors was where he felt the most alive and free. He had an abundance of loving friends and was always willing to offer a helping hand. Besides his daughter, his dogs were his life, and Gordon always had the best-behaved dogs in the world that accompanied him on his many adventures. If you knew Gordon you knew his dogs. Gordon's daughter inherited his love of the outdoors and animals, especially dogs. Gordon was a devoted father to Melica and from the moment she was born, she changed his life forever. He didn't realize he could love something so much. Gordon was a devoted son, and a doting father. He is loved by many and will be missed dearly.
