Lucy Roelofs

May 28, 1921 to October 7, 2021

Lucy (Feminis) Roelofs was born in Hilt, California on May 28, 1921, to Antonio and Caterina (Vanni) Feminis. She grew up with her parents and brother Tony in Hilt and attended grade school there.

In 1934, she and her parents traveled to Valle Vigezzo, Italy to visit the birthplace of her parents. They lived there for six months from June to December. After they returned to America, they moved to Mt. Shasta in 1935. Lucy graduated from Mt. Shasta High School in 1941. During World War II, she spent time in San Francisco working as a waitress, sales person, and in factories which contributed to the war effort. During this time, she met and fell in love with a handsome sailor named Ralph Roelofs, Jr. They were married in Mt. Shasta on March 2, 1946. In the years that followed she became the proud mother of Kenneth Ralph and Jeanette Marie.

Lucy spent time working as a waitress at Mike and Tony's Restaurant which was partly owned by her brother Tony. When Tony started the Alpine Motel, she spent time assisting him to help make the business a success. In 1970, she and Tony purchased the Lamplighter Restaurant and the Gold Room. She was the face of the Gold Room from 1970 until she retired in 1989, making the Gold Room the most successful lounge in Mt. Shasta. As a resident of Mt. Shasta since 1935, she loved to garden and spend time with family.

Lucy was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Tony, her husband Ralph, and her beloved dog Baby. She is survived and remembered lovingly by her children Kenneth and Jeanette; son-in law John Kennedy and daughter-in-law Cynthia Roelofs; grandchildren John, Jr. and Filicity Kennedy, Joseph and Christina Kennedy, Erica and Jeremy Blair, and Steven and Ashley Roelofs; great-grandchildren John III and Benjamin Kennedy; Jordan, Brady, and Cadence Kennedy; Kenneth Blair, and Macallister, Douglas, and Brees Roelofs.

Lucy was a devoted Catholic and a former member of the Altar Society. She passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 12 noon at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mount Shasta.

The family would like to thank Connie Ginocchio, Ericka Coates, and Jenny Signor for their excellent care of Lucy.

Donations may be made to Mercy Hospice, 914 Pine St., Mt Shasta, CA 96067.
