“The Chimney Doctor,” Steve McAnelly-Short, passed away as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Thursday, November 25, 2021 while he was out 4-wheeling. He was just shy of 50 years old.

Steve was born on December 16, 1971 to Steven McAnelly and Patricia Yeager-Jazewski in Lakewood, California. Steve had a wild side that filled his life with joy and thrills. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He would help anyone in need. He loved to go snowboarding, ride motorcycles, travel, tinker with RC cars, and have outdoor adventures. He owned The Chimney Doctor with his wife, where he spent the past 25 years on many roofs caring for the chimneys and their owners in Siskiyou county. He always said he made sure their chimneys were clean, their stoves were safe and they were warm, so he could sleep at night.

Steve will always be remembered for living life with gusto.

Steve is survived by his highschool sweetheart and wife of 23 years, Deanna Short; his children: Forrest, Cory, Brenden, and Autumn; siblings: Brian Strader, Samantha Miller, Damon, Layana, Gena, and Joshua McAnelly; his parents, Steven and Patricia, and by James Stevey, who Steve loved as a son.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the family home on December 17th at 1pm.

Girdner Funeral Chapel is assisting the family, and online condolences may be made at www.girdnerfuneralchapel.com.
