Jerry Eiler, age 77, of Jacksonville, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at his home after battling an incurable lung disease for over two years.

Jerry was born on May 19, 1944 in Weed, California to James and Louise Eiler. He attended school through 8th grade in Gazelle, California and graduated high school in Mt. Shasta, California in 1962. After working in the family’s meat packing plant and attending college on and off for the year after high school, he reconnected with a high school classmate, Ann Strickland, who became the love of his life. They were married on March 6, 1965. They just celebrated their 57th anniversary this year. In 1967, Jerry and Ann moved to Sacramento where Jerry continued in the meat business and their only child, Jill Eiler was born. In 1969, the three moved back to Mt. Shasta to be closer to their families. Jerry worked for Made-Rite Prepared Meats in Mt. Shasta until he was promoted to supervisor in November of 1975 and moved his family to Medford. In 1981, Jerry decided to go into the trucking business with his lifelong friends, the Peters family which he continued until selling the business in 1991. Jerry spent the rest of his life working a family business of building/buying truck terminals in the west coast and renting them to trucking companies like FedEx.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father James, his mother Louise, and his brother Jim. Jerry is survived by his wife Ann, daughter Jill, grandsons Brady, Hudson, and Jake, and his brother John (Jeanne) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jerry had a huge heart and made friends everywhere he went. We know that he touched many peoples’ lives in different ways and he made it clear that when he was gone, he would like everyone to raise a glass and share good memories. His family would like to invite you to his Celebration of Life. It will be held on Saturday, April 16th, 2022 at St. Mary’s School at 816 Black Oak Drive in Medford, Oregon. The service will be held in the Naumes Gym at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow after. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Mt. Shasta Memorial Cemetery.

The family of Jerry Eiler wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Asante Hospice & staff, his Hospice nurses, Audrey and Angelica, his many doctors, his good friends, Wes & MaryAnn Nieto, and all his family and friends who cared and supported him with their many visits, phone calls, and letters.
