Rosie Antonette Tallerico, age 87, passed away February 4th, 2022, in her apartment at Oakdale Heights Assisted Living in Redding, California, from cancer.
Rosie was born in June 1934 in Weed, California, to John and Rosina Tallerico. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Rachel and Mary, and her brother Sam. Rosie graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in 1955. She received her teaching certificate from the University of San Francisco and moved to Redding where she taught for 32 years at Central Valley High School. Rosie volunteered at the Mercy Hospital gift shop and information desk for over 50 years.
Rosie is survived by her nieces, Sandy Levison (David) of Atherton, CA, Denise Singleton (Charles) of Aurora, CO, and nephews, Don Nesbit of Orange, CA, Dennis Cedros of Livermore, CA, Scott Nesbit (Julie) of La Canada Flintridge, CA, Robert Cedros of Santa Rosa, CA, Steve Cedros (Peggy) of Hayden, ID, and Craig Cedros (Martha) of Portland, OR and their families.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Oakdale Assisted Living and Mercy Hospice for their care and support for Rosie. A gathering to celebrate the life of Rosie will be held on Saturday, June 18, at 1pm at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the Red Lion Hotel in the Sundial Room. A private family burial will follow.
The Rosie Tallerico Memorial scholarship has been established at Central Valley High School through the Central Valley High School Alumni Association. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the scholarship fund. Donations can be made in Rosie’s name to the Central Valley High School Alumni Association at PO Box 555, Shasta Lake, CA 96019-0555. The Alumni Association is a 501c 3 non-profit organization, Tax ID # 68-0278114, for a tax deduction.
