Lawrence Julian Gautreaux, Jr. of Dunsmuir, California, went to be with his Lord on May 1, 2022. He was 74 years old. Larry was born on September 3, 1947 in Central Falls, Rhode Island. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and University of Scranton, Scranton, Pennsylvania. Subsequently he was commissioned 2nd Lt. in the US Marine Corps and honorably discharged. As the oldest of 7 children, he assumed the role of team leader and was a master of that craft. He initiated many and varied reunions for his siblings -- skiing, hunting, hiking and other adventures. He moved to California at first to Morgan Hill, then on to Palo Cedro where he had a beautiful ranch. He loved his animals, especially his Irish Setter Amiee . After a stint with Straw Hat Pizza, he moved north to Lewiston and ran the Silver Dollar Cafe along with his brother Don. That led to an opportunity in helping to create The Depot in Dunsmuir -- a local favorite pizza restaurant. Later, he and Don started Gautreaux Brothers Construction Company which quickly became the go-to local contractor. It must have been in their blood since his father and grandfather were both contractors. Larry also enjoyed spiritual sweats in the huts and at Stewart Springs. As his retirement from the trades approached, he became a student of the I AM foundation at Shasta Springs in Dunsmuir. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there and spent numerous hours helping to maintain the facilities and make needed repairs. Larry is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Annette Gautreaux, Bristol, R.I., brothers Mike (Greensboro, Ga.), Dave (Los Angeles, Ca.), Russ (Libby, Mt.), Don (Mt. Shasta,Ca.), John (S. Kingstown, R.I ) and his sister Nancy (Warwick, R.I.). He also leaves 10 nephews and nieces that always held a special place in his heart.
