Dian was born to Eve and George Steele in Marshfield Or. now known as Coos Bay. She spent her early years in Oregon and grew to love horses.
In 1953, she met the love of her life Don English. A year later they were married and remained so until his death in 2019.
They resided in the Bay Area where she nurtured her family which included raising and showing German Shepherds.
In 1974, Don and Dian moved the family to the McCloud area to take on their new roles as caretakers on the Hearst estate.
Dian soon assumed all responsibilities of hosting and many of her dishes were repeatedly requested. She served there for 17 years.
Don and Dian then enjoyed their retirement years in the home they built in McCloud.
They were long time members of the Squaw Valley Riding Club.
Dian leaves 2 children; son Tim English (wife Cindy) of McCloud and daughter Laura Lovio (husband Ernie) of Mt. Shasta, 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday August 12th at the First Baptist Church at 11:00 in McCloud where she had been a long time member.
