Obituary

Janice Baltar passed away on May 5, 2022, in Portland, Oregon, aged 72. Born August 1949 in Portland to Wiley and Betty Bowers, she graduated from Portland State University in 1971 and then earned her teaching degree from the Oregon College of Education. After marrying and moving to Mt. Shasta in 1979, she was owner and operator of the Northern Lights bookstore in downtown Mt. Shasta. Janice then taught at the College of the Siskiyous and other local school districts before eventually moving back to Portland.

She is survived by her sister Pamela and son Michael. A devoted mother, loving and generous to a fault, she never lost her sense of whimsy or humor. Her sincere and creative spirit will be missed.
