Obituary

Nancy Shigenaka, beloved wife, sister and friend passed away August 17th, 2022 at the age of 72. Born in Santa Maria to parents Tak & Hina, who met during WWII at internment camp in Arizona. Nancy graduated from Santa Maria High School, Allan Hancock College and San Jose State with a BS in social science.

Nancy is survived by husband Mark Healy, her brother Brian (Denise), sister Margaret (Tony), multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, numerous cousins as well as her Auntie Yots and too many close friends to count.

After SJSU, Nancy moved to Humboldt County, while working for a Natural Foods distributor there she met her “other brother” Mark Derby, who introduced her to the produce business. In 1980, she moved to Mt. Shasta to work with Prana Produce which became part of General Produce in 1986 and was working there part time until her passing. Nancy made lifelong friends of co-workers and customers alike. She conducted tours of GP with local schools for 2 generations of children.

Nancy met her husband Mark Healy in 1985 and they were inseparable from that day forward. They enjoyed time with friends and family, hosting parties, celebrating holidays, attending concerts, and taking trips to the Oregon Coast, Bay Area and Santa Maria.

Nancy was an avid gardener, amazing gift giver, wonderful cook, flower arranger, Bay Area sports fan, best of friend to many and loving Auntie to her friends children and their children. Nancy loved the Mount Shasta community and volunteered for many events such as Shasta Yama Taiko, July 4th foot race and Winter Magic.

Nancy was recognized by everyone while driving her Mustang, with her dog Ozzie riding shotgun, or walking The Lake Siskiyou Trail.

We will miss our little friend with her boisterous laugh and big heart. Happy memories of Nancy will always be in our hearts.
