Obituary

On Monday, October 17, 2022, the Rodriguez family lost the centerpiece of their family. Marcelina Avila Rodriguez passed away peacefully in her home. Marcelina was born September 6, 1942 in “El Ranchito de Platanar, Jalisco, Mexico.” She immigrated in 1965. Weed, California became her home where she and her husband began building an amazing life together where they raised their family.

Marcelina is survived by her 5 children, Socorro Sanchez (Pilo Sanchez), Cordelia Reichert (Mark Reichert), Engelberto Rodriguez Jr. (Esperanza) Olmedo, David Rodriguez (Mercedes Campa-Rodriguez) and Miguel Rodriguez (Marie Rodriguez), 11 grandchildren, Celia Herrera, Gabriel Sanchez, Mario Sanchez, Danika Avila, Erika Kenesockkhamsene, Salvador Avila, Lorenzo Rodriguez, Lance Rodriguez, Anahí Rodriguez, Amari Rodriguez, Mia Rodriguez and 3 great grandchildren, Milo Rodriguez, Mireya Kenesockhamsene, and Naomi Kenesockhamsene.

Marcelina was a kind and loving wife, an amazing mother and grandmother/great grandmother. She held the family together with prayer and love. She was always there for them through their ups and downs. She taught them to enjoy every moment life had to offer and to always remember that family always came first. Marcelina enjoyed family gatherings and loved taking care of her grandchildren/great grandchildren. Marcelina was such a caring and kind soul that many families entrusted her in taking care of their own little ones. She ensured no one ever left the house hungry. She was such an amazing cook that her family always says when eating other people’s food, it doesn’t taste the same as mom’s!

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at Mount Shasta Memorial Chapel.
