On January 13, 2023 Daryl Swift Sr (59) was summoned to the pearly gates on his final ride to eternal freedom. Born and raised in Mt Shasta, California Daryl spent much of his time outdoors hunting, fishing, skiing and camping and a lot of quality time with his grandparents, parents, family and friends. He enjoyed “raising a little hell” with his brother, Paul, his best buddy, Dion Meadows and his many lifelong friends.

Daryl graduated Mt. Shasta High School and went on to work in construction and then for the railroad. However, it was evident that sawdust runs in the veins of the men in the Swift family and Daryl spent the next 30 plus years carrying on a family tradition in the lumber industry. For the last 22 years Daryl worked at Collins Pine mill in Lakeview, Oregon.

Daryl believed that any man is only as good as his word and his work ethic, so he set the bar high and earned a reputation as a standup guy who enjoyed challenging young people to work smarter not harder.

Daryl felt that his greatest achievement was 16 plus years of sobriety. He was always willing to support the efforts of anyone who needed some encouragement to try to attain that same goal.

The pride and joy of Daryl's life was raising his daughter, Deanna and his son Daryl. Later, the added bonus of his grandchildren Chloe, Avery, Peyton and Gabriella gave him tremendous enjoyment. Only rivaled by his other pride and joy, his motorcycle. He cherished the freedom of the open road and no particular destination.

Daryl and his wife, Elva, created a blended family and a life that was filled with peace, fun, memories, love and adventure that was a true blessing for the both of them.

Daryl was preceded to the afterlife by his grandparents Ernie and Ida Swift, Elwood and Marcy Martin and Stepbrother, Kurt Lutz.

Daryl made an impact with his life that will be cherished, missed and remembered by his family: Wife: Elva, Mother: Carolyn Swift-Cervelli, Father: D. Rod Swift (Linda), Brother: Paul Swift, Step-Sister: Katrina Taylor (Chris), Daughter: Deanna, Son: Daryl (Elizabeth), his 10 grandchildren, & his devoted fur baby CeCe as well as so many relatives and friends that it is impossible to list all the lives he touched.

There will be a gathering on January 28th from 1-4 pm at the Elks Lodge in Lakeview, Oregon. Please join us to share memories of Daryl’s life. In lieu of flowers please plant a tree in Daryl’s memory and keep the sawmills in business.
