Obituaries in Mt Shasta, CA | Mount Shasta Herald

Floyd Hansen Flack of Mt Shasta was born in Seiad Valley, California to Lawrence Edward “Bud” Flack and Audrey Grace Lowden Flack on December 18, 1938. He passed away on April 4, 2023. A man of integrity, he was also honest, truthful and kind. Floyd was 84 years young. He had a tough exterior but a heart of gold. After graduation from Yreka High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served from the age of 18 until he was 21.

After the Marine Corps, he began a career in the logging industry. Floyd purchased some land, got settled, then asked his sweetheart, Gloria Burns of Dunsmuir to marry him. Their wedding was August 18, 1979. They had 35 happy years together before Gloria began her battle with cancer. He never left her side, remaining strong, caring for her, until the end.

Floyd developed an illness several years ago that weakened his immune system. His relatives recently moved him to an assisted living facility in Yreka. He was weakened a bit by his illness, yet still feisty. He agreed to stay there and stated, “a month and then I’ll go home”. He went to his Heavenly home on 04/04/2023. Some of his last words were, “I still miss her.”

Floyd is survived by his niece Karen (Chuck) Barker, nephew Gary (Vicki) Flack, cousins Harold and Pat Meadows, cousins Dion and Christine Meadows, his brother in law and sister in law Wally and Nancee Girard, nephew David (Stacey) Girard and their three children and niece Susan (Chris) Manzo and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all their siblings, half-siblings and their spouses.

A big thank you from the family to Madrone Hospice for their help, care and support during the last part of Floyd’s life journey.

Funeral services will be help on Saturday April 8th, 2023 at 11:30 at Mt Shasta Memorial Park, 830 Lassen Lane, Mt Shasta.

(May) God be with you until we meet again.
