Shereen (Sherry) Lee Lovelady, 69, passed away at her home on July 29, 2020, after fighting a long battle with breast cancer. Sherry was born on December 2, 1950, in McCloud, CA. Sherry graduated from McCloud High School and married her high school sweetheart, Dan Lovelady, and they had two sons, Aaron and Ryan, whom they raised in McCloud. In 1977, Sherry returned to the high school to serve as the school’s administrative secretary. She loved the kids and the job and worked there for 15 years, leaving when Dan’s career took them to Alabama. From there, Sherry and Dan had the opportunity to live in Kansas, Florida, Texas and Oregon, finally returning to McCloud to retire in 2012. While in Birmingham Alabama, Sherry worked as a Travel Agent; and, later earned a certification for tax preparation, working for companies in both Prineville and Roseburg, Oregon, in addition to working out of her home.
In retirement Sherry found a passion in playing golf! She loved the game and was a member of the McCloud Golf Club, and a member/officer of the McCloud Ladies Golf Club. She played whenever she got the chance in McCloud, and spent a few months every year playing in Arizona where her and Dan spent time in their RV. Sherry was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild, spent many years enjoying her sorority Phi Beta Kappa, and played bingo on a regular basis. She also enjoyed snow skiing, boating, playing an occasional slot machine, eating good food and traveling—however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandkids, Marissa, Brent, Kaija and Talan, and her great grandson Azriel.
Sherry leaves her husband of over 51 years, Dan Lovelady, who remains living in McCloud; son Aaron and wife Rose of Tucson AZ; son Ryan and wife Lacey of Okanogan, WA; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; her sister, Kristy Cottini and husband David of Bella Vista CA and McCloud; and, many close cousins and friends.
Sherry was predeceased by her mom and dad, Guido and Jackie Cottini, grandparents Pete and Evie Holmquist and Carrie and Vic Cottini, and Uncle Jim Cottini.
Sherry loved family and friends and celebrated life to its fullest. She will be missed dearly.
There will be a private mass for family at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6th, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in McCloud. Friends and family can view the mass at YouTube St. Anthony’s McCloud web site. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in McCloud, Mt. Shasta Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
